Hellscape

Hellscape is a Luftrausers inspired arcade game in which you are tasked with killing an endless horde of demons, but be careful, even the environment is trying to kill you; It is Hell after all. Avoid falling rocks, sulphur clouds, and lava spouts while you battle demons in the hopes of killing the Demon Brain and returning to Earth.

Development

This game was developed for a University brief at SAE where we were required to create a similar experience to Luftrausers. It was the first game I developed and acted as an opportunity to emulate a Games Studio Environment.

I was responsible for: Project Management, using Hackn’Plan, Gitlab, Discord, and Zoom to organise the team; AI Development, exploring the concept of abstract state machines; Systems Development, using Scriptable Object Architecture and Modularity and; Art Work, creating background imagery and content for our game page.

Work was done remotely, using Zoom for class workshops, Discord for meetings, Hackn’Plan for task tracking, and GitLab/ Sourcetree for source control.
